Emma Carter is a playwright, actress, and teaching artist currently based in Kansas City, MO. She holds a BFA in Theatre Arts with a minor in Music from Stephens College. She is a member of the Midwest Dramatists, The Dramatists Guild, and her works have been produced in numerous venues around the KC area. Find copies of her work on the National New Play Network!
Recently, Emma attended the 2018 William Inge New Play Lab as both a playwright and an actress. She also traveled to New York City in June of 2018 for a staged reading of her play Wicked Creatures as part of the Harold Clurman Division First Breath New Play Reading Series at the Stella Adler Studio for Acting.
Emma started writing professionally in 2015, but has been honing her craft as far back as she can remember. Her first play, Junk, received a staged reading and workshop as part of the Living Room Theater's Writer's Den Series in 2015. Since then Emma has continued to write, perform, and produce her own work in Kansas City. Her newest piece, Role Play, received a staged reading at the Writer’s Place in August of 2018.
Emma is currently applying for graduate programs in pursuit of an MFA in Playwriting.
