MDC Conference 2019

The Midwest Dramatist Conference 2019 was a success! Playwrights from all over the United States traveled to Olathe, Kansas to receive feedback on a staged reading of their play and network with other playwrights.

This year's adjudicators were theatre and opera director Katrin Hilbe, founder of Many Tracks; Gwydion Suilebhan, the chief architect and evangelist of the New Play Exchange for the National New Play Network, and executive director of the PEN/Faulkner Foundation; KU professor and MDC playwright Darren Canady; and MDC founder David Hanson.

It was wonderful to see familiar faces and meet new playwrights! I am especially proud of the actors, directors, and stage direction readers who brought the selected scripts to life this year. We were lucky to secure top notch professional Kansas City talent! I am especially grateful for Alice Polluck, Stephanne Singleton, Mandy Payton, Bryan Colley, and Elizabeth Bowman for doing such a great job with my play, “Dragon Slayers: Quest for the Egg of Armagon.” I received some helpful feedback from the panelists as well as members of the audience.
